Marlene Golf Fixes
I am Marlene, and I fix contact for one kind of golfer: the man who has played the same course with the same three friends for twenty years and is tired of the sound of turf before ball. I worked seventeen seasons on public-course lesson tees in the Midwest, and I kept a notebook of every miss I saw — over four thousand swings written down by hand. The same two inches showed up again and again. Nobody had told these men that the bottom of the arc belongs ahead of the ball. So I stopped explaining it swing by swing and wrote it down instead, short, with drills you can do on a living-room carpet in socks. My own father chunked wedges until he was seventy-four. He stopped. That is the whole reason these books exist.
I wrote these three short books because I got tired of watching good players get talked out of a simple thing. A man plays for twenty years, buys two drivers, books a package of lessons, and still hears that dull thud two inches behind the ball on the third tee. Then he is told to keep his head down, or that it is his age. It is neither. The bottom of your swing arc belongs ahead of the ball, and almost nobody says it in plain words. So I kept a notebook, watched the same miss for seventeen seasons, and wrote down only what changed contact — the dollar bill test, lead-foot pressure, hands ahead, one swing thought instead of eleven. I cut everything else out. You should be able to read a chapter, stand up on the carpet, and feel the difference before you go to bed.
Take a week. Do the dollar bill test six times and check your divots. If your contact is no cleaner than it was on Saturday, write us and we return every cent — you keep the books. You have already paid enough for clubs that did not fix this.
Three short books, one law, and drills you can do tonight on the carpet.
